The Funke Akindele-produced blockbuster, Behind The Scenes, has achieved a historic international milestone, officially becoming the highest-grossing Nollywood release of all time in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
According to data released on Tuesday by the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, the movie has earned £159,000 in the region, setting a new benchmark for Nigerian cinema in European markets. The film has also seen significant success in North America, where it recorded over $249,000 in ticket sales.
Domestic Dominance and Box Office History
The film’s international triumph follows an unprecedented run at the domestic box office. In Nigeria, Behind The Scenes recently exited cinemas with a staggering total gross of ₦2.75 billion, officially cementing its status as the highest-grossing Nollywood title in history.
The distributor described the achievement as a “defining moment for African cinema,” noting that the film’s appeal has transcended borders to reach global audiences.
