“This is Evil”: Cancer Survivor Accuses Blessing CEO of Doctoring Medical Report to Solicit N13m

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and a cancer survivor, Deborah Mbara, have publicly accused social media influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, of manipulating a medical document to fraudulently claim she had Stage 4 breast cancer.

The NMA (Delta State Chapter) confirmed on Tuesday that the report circulated by the influencer was a doctored version of a test originally issued to Ms. Mbara in May 2025 by Xinus Medical Diagnostics in Asaba.

NMA Confirms Forgery Allegations

In a stern statement signed by Delta NMA Chairman, Israel Adaigho, and Secretary, Usamah Hannah, the association clarified that the facility never issued any report to the influencer.

The NMA revealed that the original test was conducted on Deborah Mbara following a referral from a private hospital.

“The result online from the law firm [representing Mbara] is the original version issued to the patient through her hospital,” the statement read. “The altered report being paraded by Blessing Okoro is now being used for [other purposes]… members of the public should therefore be guided accordingly.”

The association has called on law enforcement agencies to “do the needful” to protect the public from being exploited.

A Breach of Trust: The Survivor’s Account

Deborah Mbara, a makeup artist who previously worked for the influencer, recounted how her medical history was allegedly weaponized. According to Mbara, Blessing CEO reached out to her last week under the guise of seeking emotional support and medical comparison.

“She said, ‘Zazi, can you please help me send the report of when you were diagnosed so I could compare it with the one my doctor gave me?’” Mbara shared in an Instagram video. “Only for me to see it on the internet on Friday that it was my result she doctored to back up the nonsense and the money people were donating to her.”

Mbara, who described the experience as “evil” and “traumatizing,” further alleged that the influencer visited her family in Asaba on Monday to apologize privately while continuing to deny their connection publicly.

The N13 Million Controversy

The scandal follows Blessing CEO’s January announcement that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had sold off her properties to fund treatment. She recently claimed to have raised N13 million through public donations.

While the public outcry grows, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently stated that it has not yet received a formal petition against the influencer. However, the NMA’s official confirmation of the manipulated document may provide the necessary grounds for a formal investigation into the crowdfunding campaign.

As of Tuesday evening, Blessing CEO has not issued a formal response to the NMA’s findings.
